Grandmother's Urn, OMI
My father wrote about the urn I made for my grandmother's passing.
"Kaiwerx Studio is the jewelry, metalsmithing and sculpture of my son, Kai Wolter. Sculpture in hammered copper, bronze, and fabricated steel. Jewelry for men and women in hand hammered bronze, copper, brass, and silver. Soon to include lighting and other functional art.
Whether as screenwriters, authors, artists, or craftsman, we might agree with the dictionary definition that defines creativity as "the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, interpretations". I might be biased but I believe my son's work is a prime example of creativity at the highest level in his craft.
I asked him to make the urn for the memorial service to honor the passing of my mother who recently passed away. She was 99. This is what you get when creative genius goes to work. The six pods resting on the petals are keepsake urns for her six grandchildren, the stem and the flower itself was my keepsake urn, and the black base the actual urn."
